Code Requirements

The current edition of the NFPA-1221 fire code and several previous editions including NFPA-72 and the International Fire Code (IFC) describe the requirements for monitoring the performance of Public Safety in-building two-way Radio Enhancement Systems with a dedicated component. This component is required to be located in the fire command center. Many jurisdictions, however, require that it be located in the same room as the DAS head end.

 –

The DASalert NFPA-72, NFPA-1221 Public Safety DAS Annunciator System is designed to meet these requirements and contains independent circuitry to monitor the various components of the Radio Enhancement System.

Installation

This system provides an economical easy-to-install solution to meeting the code requirements and the flexibility to interface with and if required, augment the fault detection and alarm signaling capabilities of a large variety of standard components used in these systems. Its small size and lightweight enclosure can be wall-mounted into any installation.

Enclosure & Power Requirements

The enclosure is NEMA-4 rated, consistent with the other requirements of the code. The internal backup battery inside the panel provides 24 hours of service to supplement the loss of primary power. Primary power can be provided by either 120 VAC, or 48 VDC, or 24 VDC. Maximum current consumption is 200 milliamps.
